Congrats to Katie and Bar on their happy news! We were so excited when they asked us to take their holiday photos and even more elated when they told us their would be a surprise along with it. It's always great to to be able to work with beautiful couples and families, but it's an even more joyous occasion when we get the opportunity to see our couples grow and we can partake in capturing these wonderful memories along the way with them!
We met up with the Wiens family in the early morning to catch some of those beautiful golden light for their maternity and family portrait session in the Woodlands. We had a lot of fun setting up a colorful surprise picnic spot for the family. They are such a beautiful family to photograph!
It's unbelievable how time goes by so quickly. Only a year ago, we were shooting Tuan's first maternity session with baby Olivia, who is so tall and beautiful now as she accompanies her mom on her second maternity photo shoot. Last time, we had a sunny and bright Spring session, and this time, the total opposite with dark gray skies and winter grays to set the mood for some spectacular shots during the twilight hour.
First there were two...then three...now four more as out P.S. August family grows bigger every year!

]]>Gladis and Drew's special day was filled with so much love. It was an intimate family affair with aunts and cousins cooking and helping with hair and make-up. The father of the bride was the most nervous man in the house full of women as he presented his daughter with a bouquet of flowers and gave her a big hug before taking her to the church. The bride had flowers all down her hair and she looked so beautiful throughout her special day. The wedding was a full of festivities as the bride and groom kicked off the evening reception, Gangnum style, with a choreographed dance routine. Friends and family joined in throughout the rest of the evening dancing the night away in celebrationg of Gladis and Drew's wedding. Congratulations to two very amazing lovebirds!
Speaking of which, we are so happy to welcome our very first P.S. August baby into the family. This maternity session was taken during the beginning of summer here in Houston, which could only mean hot, hot, hot heat. Our very own P.S. August Creative team member, Tuan and her husband , Kevin, were such amazing sports. Not even the infamous humidity in Houston could put a frown on this glowing mom-to-be. Doesn't she look gorgeous!? We just love it when someone exudes such happiness and warmth in front of the lens.

One of our favorite types of photo sessions are bridal ones. And as much as we love working with our brides in their beautiful, and elegant dresses, sometimes the bride who prefers a much more simple and natural theme for her wedding can be just as beautiful. We asked our friend, Stephanie, who is so gorgeous by the way, to model two simple, bohemian styles for this bridal shoot. We've been so excited to share these stunning photos with you all!

Welcome to our very first blog post as P.S. August Photography! We are a small company of brother and sisters who all share a love for photography. Our road to building this company has not been an easy one, I admit, we were ill prepared and naive, but we still kept our enthusiasm and our desire to do what we love for a living has kept us moving forward towards our goals. If you recognize our photos, it's because we were under a different name previously. It was a difficult decision, but ultimately, after several setbacks and hurdles, we decided to move forward with P.S. August Photography. Our philosophy remains the same, our work is our pride. We wouldn't be behind the camera if we didn't absolutely love what we were doing and I hope that this passion will always translate onto our photographs. So come join us on our journey through these beautiful photos! This is just the beginning of something good....

Renda + Tam part II
For their first engagement session, it was all about vintage romance and charm. We headed into the heart of warehouse district downtown for our second session with our lovely couple. Tam’s love and appreciation for graffiti art and urban architecture was a a big inspiration during our scouting. The rusty textures of the brick warehouses and fields of golden grass were the perfect backdrop for our beautiful couple. Not that they need any help though, they look good just about anywhere! Can’t wait until the wedding!

Romance in the Heights…
We’ve been so excited to showcase pictures from this engagement session, but had such a difficult time narrowing down our favorite shots. Can you blame us? Renda and Tam are such a gorgeous couple to shoot, we had to indulge in two! engagement sessions with them. For the first photo session we took a romantic stroll down Houston’s beloved Heights neighborhood to visit some beautiful historic houses. we couldn’t have asked for better timing because all the flowers and roses were in full bloom as we passed by several gardens. Renda’s love for vintage -inspired things and Tam’s urban coolness make a delightful match in front of and behind the lens. By sunset, we surprised the couple with a little Eden of their own by hanging a few well lit mason jars in a nearby grove. Thanks for a such an amazing and fun photo shoot guys!
P.S. A big Thank You! for a few gracious Houstonians who welcomed us into their home and garden for this awesome photo session.
Stay tuned for part two in our next post of Renda + Tam’s engagement session as we head out into the outskirts of downtown…

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. A simple and inexpensive idea for a Mother’s Day gift is to put together a potted plant for her. We picked out a few succulents and chose minimal clay pots to display them together. The succulents give off a fresh, tangy aroma and there are so many beautiful varieties to choose from, some even bloom when in season. Combine this with a custom photo session with your favorite lady and you’ve got a hit on your hands! Just saying!
This is a very happy belated Easter post, but goes down as two of our most darling photo sessions this year. The girls were dressed to impress for their family portraits and we couldn’t resist having them for our Easter shoot since we had just made the props the day before. Pastel colored pennants are very easy and quick to create and make fantastic decorations for parties and impromptu Easter photo sessions like this one! We wanted to keep things natural and whimsical, so we painted mini patterns onto real boiled eggs and created a bird’s nest to hold. We just love how this photo session have turned out. WARNING !!! Be ready for some cute overload when scrolling down the page.
Another belated Easter photo session. This one was a casual affair as the kids were eager to get on with their egg hunt right after the shoot. We’re a bit obsessed with our die cutter lately as you can see in our DIY banners in previous posts, but the cut outs add just the right amount of color and playfulness into these Spring themed photo sessions.

We’ve just been back from a weekend in Austin at a blogging conference. As a new company, we’re always eager to learn from more experienced bloggers out there and this weekend was a great opportunity to meet some of the top women bloggers in the nation and get some constructive feedback from them. Oh, and you can’t go to Austin without eating at Uchi, and it is a dining experience that you won’t forget anytime soon. (That’s our Creative Consultant above being a proud tourist…)
Austin was a good break, but now that we’re back in Houston, we’re definitely ready to get back into the groove of things. We’ve got several projects lined up this weekend and a few adorable portraits for Easter that I’m really excited to shoot. Stay tuned!
]]>We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather to spend the day at the beach with Regina and Nghia to celebrate their engagement. The couple wanted to keep things fun and casual, so we put together a collection of whimsical things, inspired by those yummy Valentine conversation hearts. Throw in some brightly colored balloons, a handmade LOVE banner, and a vintage Schwinn and you've got a sweet date at the beach! We also wanted to make this session memorable for them so we surprised Regina and Nghia with bottles and paper and asked them both to write a message for each other during one of our breaks. It was so sweet and cute to see them concentrate on their letters to each other. Congratulations to such a cute couple!

You'll have to excuse the explosion of color and the length of this post, but we just couldn't help but share all these beautiful shots of Kayla and her man Brett. Not only are they gorgeous, but working with Kayla and Brett was so much fun. Not only are they gorgeous to look at, but hey are probably the most easy going and silly couple we've worked with and that just makes our job so much more easier. This is why we love what we do!

Theresa and Paul were such a fun and charming couple to photo shoot. They wanted to have a casual, natural feel to their photo shoot, so we spent an entire afternoon strolling through the arboretum and setting up a picnic in a nearby field of yellow blooms. The shots have turned out so beautiful. Congratulations to the you guys on your engagement! The big day is almost here!

Amada and Eduardo still know how to keep things romantic after four years of marriage. There is a classic, old Hollywood-romance-in-the-air feeling about these photos. It must have been the couple's stylish sense of fashion, or just the love in the air that gave this photo shoot such a sweet, romantic vibe. We couldn't have asked for a more lovelier pair of lovebirds to spend the day with. Cheers to more beautiful years of marriage in the future for you both!

We were absolutely thrilled when Julia asked us to take her engagement photos with Takeshi. They had just recently gotten engaged and wanted something urban for their photo shoot. I don't think I could have asked for a better sport than these two. Even through the hot and humid weather, Julia and Takeshi always had a big smile on their faces. I guess nothing really matters when you've got the love of your life next to you! Congrats to you both again!

Congrats to the newlyweds, Tuan + Kevin! I couldn't think of a more awesome couple who deserves each other more. We kept things casual with this photo shoot. The couple took a stroll through the Menil while we were there to capture all that newlywed bliss!

It’s been a few years since Thomas and Pei were happily married, so we took a trip to the Menil and the Rothko Chapel on a fine, clear Saturday for a little anniversary photo session. The summer sun was on full blast that day, but we managed to find shade and wonderful photo-ops under a lonesome magnolia tree and a gorgeous flowering oleander bush. The day ended as we took a stroll on the Sabine Bridge overlooking Allen Parkway. The sunset illuminated Thomas and Pei as they took advantage of the empty streets to do a quick waltz, while local skateboarders nearby watched on amusingly.
